With my 2 children, in 2019

WHO I AM

Hi, I’m Emily.
I’m a Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, a Kripalu-trained yogi, a cycling instructor and an avid runner. I’m also a wife and mother. Let me state up front: I LOVE food. Like, really love it. I grew up in an Italian family, where food is love, but as my health and wellness journey has evolved, I’ve learned that not all foods love me back (and that’s OK!).

For years as a runner and fitness instructor, I searched for whole, clean foods that could fuel my body but also taste good. My interest in wellness started 20 years ago — long before people started using the word “wellness” as a catchall to include exercise, nutrition and general self-care. I was working in the fashion industry in NYC, juggling the fast-paced 20-something work life, and taking as many fitness classes as I could in my free time. It was exciting, but I felt like something was missing, and wondered if there couldn’t be something else out there that was a better fit for me professionally. I began working towards my first certification to teach group exercise, and by the time I’d earned it, I was hooked.  My full-time career in fashion was never as fulfilling as those Sunday morning group sculpt classes on E. 37th Street. I never dreamed wellness could end up being my career, but life has a way of nudging you in the right direction.

A few years later, now married and having made the leap into working as a collegiate fitness coordinator, I became pregnant with my daughter and my search for whole, clean foods became that much more important. Now I had a new little human to care for, and I wanted to expose her to the best foods possible for her development, to help her hone her taste buds, and to form good eating habits that would stay with her for life. When my son eventually joined us two years later, I was teaching pilates, Fit4Mom classes, cycle, sculpt and yoga, and while the classes have been different over the past 15 years, my commitment to “being healthy” has remained the same. But my understanding of it has grown, like how it requires more than just whole foods and exercise, and how it needs to center around the idea of bio-individuality.

No two people are meant to eat, move or live the same, so each person’s course of action needs to be highly customized for them. The more I learn, the more I want to share my knowledge and empower my clients, because making people feel better — and live better — is the best reward.

HOW I CAN HELP

Though movement has always been my medicine, I believe in the healing power of food as well. As an Integrative Health Coach, my intention is to help others live healthier, happier and more fulfilling lives. I support clients in achieving their goals, talking through any issues, and coming up with actionable steps to form sustainable lifestyle behaviors — as well as making better-informed decisions regarding their health. Examining your behaviors and practices through a holistic lens helps shed light on how our health and well-being affects each and every area of our lives . My goal as a coach is to empower people to become an expert on their own health, to hold them accountable, and to do it all with encouragement and positivity.
