“The highest spiritual practice is self-observation without judgement.”
~ Swarmi Kripalu

What makes Kripalu Yoga so special and unique?

  • Kripalu (Krih-PAH-loo) means compassionate in Sanskrit

  • We start each practice with an empathsis on being present in the body, establishing a flowing breath and warming up. The idea is to begin each practice from a place of self- love, to nuture your body .

  • It allows you to choose the level of physical intensity that best suites you. This can change day to day, which is completely normal. Kripalu yoga teaches you how to listen to your body and honor its needs. We really try to elimate comparison with others or even ourselves day to day. The goal is to be completely present and in your body during the practice.

  • It understands that every body is different. Again, taking comparison out of our practice is imperative. Postures are to be entered into and explored. Being curious about what your body and mind need in that moment.

  • It activates the Prana (life force) of the body. Kripalu Yoga teaches that the body is fueled by an '“energetic life force” closely tied to the breath.

  • It’s a Yoga that can be practiced both on and off the mat (my favorite principle). Working, breathing through difficult poses on the mat can be translated into our every day lives.

  • It understands that consistant yoga practice will ignite a process of personal growth and transformation.
